Leonard Nimoy, who played the character Mr Spock in Star Trek series, has died at the age of 83. He was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which he attributed to years of smoking. He was admitted to a hospital yesterday when he complained of severe chest pains.
Nimoy’s human-alien character First Officer of the Starship Enterprise had a cult following with his signature Vulcan salute with the hand raised palm forward and the fingers separated from the middle and ring fingers. This salute followed by the Vulcan greeting, Live Long and Prosper. The salute was devised by him.
Don't smoke. I did. Wish I never had. LLAP
